Bassett coolant-thru thread mill. Solid carbide tools offer long tool life and faster cutting speeds than other substrates, but are more brittle and must be used with rigid tool holding systems. Titanium aluminum nitride coatings become self-lubricating when used at very high speeds, making them ideal for cutting without coolant ("dry machining"). Helical flute design reduces thread chatter, improving product thread finish and quality. Ideal for internal threads. Thread milling is a superior process for threading most materials. Applications: Bassett thread mills are the ideal choice when: machine tool has helical interpolation capabilities, thread specification calls for full threads close to bottom of hole, thread specification requires a special tap, small lot size is to be threaded, need to cut large diameter threads on low horsepower machines, work piece is thin walled which can be milled more easily than tapped, CNC machine has a slower RPM capability below what is recommended for carbide thread mills. Applicable for non-ferrous material, Hi-temp alloys, stainless steel and steel.
